Dine at marche tomorrow evening for a good cause.
The Swiss restaurant in VivoCity will be devoting its total sales from the night's business to families directly affected by Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar.
This includes the family of one of their own team members, which was left homeless during the cyclone in May.
Marche frontline staff member "Tin Tine Nwet's" family home in yangon was destroyed by the cyclone, which left nothing intact except a sweing machine.The 28-years-old, endured two anxious days of waiting for news of her parents who were unharmed but left homeless. Her parents have since returned to their family village in the outskirts of Yangon and are now staying with relatives.
On hearing of her family's situation, the Marche team, which has six Myanmar staffs, collected (SGD or USD?)1,000 to help Miss Tin's Family to rebuild their house.
Their actions inspired Mr Andrew Towner (Asia-Pacific General Manger of Marche International) who approached the restaurant's headquarters about the idea of "A Meal for Myanmar".
Aside from Miss Tin Tin Nwet's family, Marche has arranged to donate the money directly to individuals and families affected by the cyclone through partners on the ground.
In addition to the night's earnings, the 72-strong Marche staff will donate their wages for that evening. The restaurant's supply partners are also providing the night's supplies free of charge.
Mr Towner clarified that the restaurant will not be asking the public for donations.
Said Mr Towner: "Just come and enjoy dinner, knowing that every cent you spend will be donated to a worthy cause."
